Design & Building of the Facility
The facility was custom built with Contract Manufacturing in mind. The generic design of the facility lends itself to versatility and adaptability. Much planning went into the design of product and personnel flow, with emphasis being on ergonomics, symmetry and simplicity.
Space! People like to work in an environment with space and windows. The design incorporates large passages and generously spaced rooms. The dividing walls contain the maximum amount of windows structurally possible.
No expense has been spared in the building materials. All walls (internal and external) are double brick, and all internal walls are double-glazed. The ceiling is trafficable and all services are accessed from the ceiling void. All internal flooring is epoxy and polyurethane coated, with colour coding. Service conduits run from the ceiling directly into the machinery, eliminating the need for cords on the floor.
Much attention has been given to the ease of cleaning of the facility, enhanced by features such as rounded skirting, reduced amount of horizontal surfaces, wash down walls and ceilings, and a high proportion of stainless steel surfaces.
As much emphasis has been placed on the comfort of the work force as it has been on the capability of the facility. The change rooms and canteen are modern and spacious.
